WATERLOO - Robert "Bob" McCrea, 74, of Waterloo, died at Allen Hospital Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 20, 1939, in Iowa City, son of Vernon and Catherine "Margaret" Knake McCrea. He married Margaret McKenna on Nov. 7, 1964, at St. Bridget Church, Bluffton.

Mr. McCrea graduated from OLVA Catholic High School in 1958, and served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Illinois Central Railroad for 23 1/2 years, retiring in 1985.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Tom of Waterloo, Tim (Debbie) of Cedar Falls and Todd (Vicki) of Peosta; seven grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; three brothers, Maurice, William (Francine) and Marvin; and six sisters, Margaret Widdel, Evelyn (Bud) Sommer, Joyce Berschauer, Lois (Maynard) Keiswater and Caryal (Lee) Purviance.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Maynard; and a stepgreat-granddaughter.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, followed by military honors. Cremation will take place after the service, with no burial at this time. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until services.
