CEDAR FALLS - Kenneth Charles Lakin, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 4, 1920, in Livermore, son of Harry and Myrtle Thompson Lakin. He married Lola Brown Aug. 12, 1944, in Charleston, S.C.

He was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and served with the 133rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army, in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II. He was a machinist for more than 40 years at Clay Equipment Company in Cedar Falls, retiring in 1982.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Charlie (Hannah) of Minneapolis and Dick (Janet) of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Gaio (Amy) Lakin, Winona Lakin, Olaf (Jessica) Lakin, Nick Lakin, Ben Lakin, Joe Lakin and Derrick Mbezal; a sister, Dorothy Pape of Springfield, Mo.; and three brothers, John (Roberta) of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Harry (Grace) of Albuquerque, N.M., and Bob (Dorothy) of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, with private inurnment in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the National Parkinson Foundation.
