WATERLOO - Hazel Mae Thompson, 84, formerly of Waterloo and Independence, died June 5, 2005, at her daughters home in Juneau, Alaska, of age-related causes.

She was born Dec. 24, 1920, in Waterloo, daughter of Frank and Lettie Smith. She married Gerald L. Thompson on Oct. 12, 1940, in Eagle Grove. He died Aug. 15, 1987.

Mrs. Thompson and her husband farmed.

Survivors include a son, Allen (Janis) of Independence; a daughter, Bonnie Thompson of Juneau; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and three brothers.

Preceded in death by three brothers; and four sisters.

Family-conducted memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Jubilee, with private burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. There will be no visitation. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, assisted the family.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
