EVANSDALE — Alice E. Wood, 90, of 315 Wema Ave., died Sunday, May 9, 1993, at Covenant Medical Center Skilling Nursing Unit, Waterloo, of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 2, 1902, in Alpha, daughter of Frank and Amy Wichman Gifford. She married Vem Wood in 1938. He died in 1947.

Mrs. Wood worked for Power's Manufacturing Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1981.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane A. Cates of Davenport, Fla.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Bemice Grahlman of Sumner and Leone Milbranut of Alpha; and a special friend, Jim Zaug of Evansdale.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Koehler; a son, Leslie Calicot; and three brothers.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel-downtown, Waterloo, where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture service.
