[Waterloo Daily Courier, Thursday, December 26, 1907, Waterloo, Iowa]

Fred Stolte, a man well known in Waterloo and for a long time a resident of this city, passed away yesterday, Christmas Day, at 8:30 in the evening, of acute pneumonia. He had been ill only ten days so that his death was unexpected except to the immediate friends. Mr. Stolte was always a good-hearted joyful disposition and counted as his friends everyone with whom he came in touch. All will miss him and will extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved wife and children.

Fred Stolte was born at Hanover, Germany, on Dec. 4, 1842. He went to school in Germany and at the age of 29 came to America to make his home. He stayed for a while in Chicago and then came to Cedar Falls, where he was in business for three years, coming then to Waterloo about 1879, where he has since resided. Until four eyars ago he enjoyed good health but for the past few years he has not been well, though he was able to carry on his business until he was taken ill with pneumonia December 15.

On February 6, 1876, he was married in Waterloo to Miss Katherine Bloeser, the ceremony being performed at her home by Rev. Mordoff, pastor of the First Lutheran Church. She survives her husband and also do four children: William F., Louis H., Arthur and Amelia, all of Waterloo. One brother, John resides in Chamberlain, S. D., and one sister is living in Germany.

The funeral services will be held from the First Lutheran Church on Sunday, Dec. 29, at 2:30 with a short service at the house at 2 o'clock. Rev. A. Hugo Lutz will conduct the services and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The Friendship Society, of which Mrs. Stolte is a member, will attend in a body.
