WATERLOO - Don Roger Hilbert, 67, of Ankeny, formerly of Waterloo, died, Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.

He was born Feb. 23, 1946, in Waterloo, son of Harry and Margueritte Hilbert. He married Teresa Weires in 1970.

He attended Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls. Mr. Hilbert worked for John Deere for over 30 years and retired as quality auditor supervisor. He was a member of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, Ankeny.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Christopher (Tracy) and Rob (Angela); four grandchildren, Madison, Owen, Samantha and Emerson; a sister, Karen Orvis; a brother, William (Jean); a sister-in-law, Marcia Hilbert; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by his brother, Rick; a brother-in-law, Charles Orvis; and his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 E. First St., Ankeny. Visitation will be for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be directed Hope Ministries or Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. In his free time he enjoyed casinos and spending hours on the computer.
