Keith Allan Schipper, 56, of Aplington, died at home Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 14, 1956, in Waterloo, son of Steno H. and Mary Margaret Kampman Schipper. He married Michelle Kaye Wikert on Sept. 23, 1978, at First Presbyterian Church, Aplington.

He graduated from Aplington High School in 1975 and from Wartburg College in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in law enforcement and sociology. Mr. Schipper began his law enforcement career in Aplington as a police officer, and then served as the police chief in Plainfield and in Tripoli. He was a sergeant in the University of Northern Iowa Public Safety Department until 1986. He and his wife then worked together at Five Seasons Mobile Home Park, Cedar Falls. He also drove truck for Iowa Select and Heartland Pork. He was a member of Washington Reformed Church.

Survived by his wife; a son, Max (Tonya Jensen) Schipper-Neessen of Waterloo; a son-in-law, Andrew Pfannebecker of Austinville; a sister, JoAnn Elaine (Roger George) Johnson of Aplington; and a sister-in-law, Josephine Schipper of Parkersburg.

Preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Angela Pfannebecker; and a brother, Stanley.

Memorial services: 3 p.m. Saturday at Washington Reformed Church, rural Ackley, preceded by two hours of visitation. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel, Aplington, is in charge of arrangements.
