CEDAR FALLS - Synnove Woods, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home of emphysema.

She was born April 17, 1925, in Larvik, Norway, daughter of Eric and Gertrude Pedersen. She married Lorenzo "Bud" Woods on Aug. 29, 1948, in Cedar Falls. He died Feb. 19, 2004.

Mrs. Woods worked as a nurse's aide at the Cedar Falls Western Home for many years and for a time at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. She also worked in the cafeteria for the Cedar Falls School District. She was active in the Sons of Norway, belonged to the Haylofters Square Dancing Group, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

Survivors include two brothers-in-law, Milo Weltruski and Robert Woods, both of Cedar Falls; a sister-in-law, Bernadine Woods of Cedar Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Melissa McCulley and Gertrude Woods; and a brother.

Services: 9 a.m. Saturday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with inurnment later in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Her 80th birthday write-up (Waterloo Courier, April 17, 2005) said she came to the U.S. in 1946. The article also said she was currently living with her niece and nephew, Orv and Chj Morris.
