CEDAR FALLS - Lydia Lena Peterson, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Hinsdale, Ill., daughter of Diedrich and Catherine Paulmeyer Lubbering. She married Victor A. Peterson May 18, 1946, in Westmont, Ill. He died May 12, 1966.

Mrs. Peterson worked for Western Electric in Chicago during World War II and was later a homemaker.

She was very active in her church, both in Cedar Falls and in Riverdale, Ill.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald L. (Elizabeth) of Cedar Falls and David L. (Linda) of Mount Vernon, Wash.; three grandchildren, Christina Greenberg of Mount Vernon, Julie (Misbah) Qidwai of Coralville and Amy Peterson of Moline, Ill.; a great-grandchild, Amira Qidwai of Coralville; and a sister, Elsie Lubbering of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a brother, Walter Lubbering, and two sisters, Lillian Visockis and Edna Johnson.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial Monday in Homewood Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Homewood, Ill. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Cedar Bend Humane Society or the Salvation Army
