REINBECK - Francis J. Babinat, 90, of Reinbeck, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long-Term Care Unit, Grundy Center.

He was born Sept. 2, 1923, in Voorhies, son of Adolph Albert and Marie Clair Svoboda Babinat. On Oct. 8, 1945, he married Alice Maroah Barrer at Blessing Catholic Church, Buckingham. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Babinat farmed in Hudson for 32 years. He also drove a bus for the Reinbeck School District for many years. After moving to Reinbeck in 1977 he worked for Farmers Feed & Supply. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Reinbeck.

Survived by four daughters, Frances Babinat of Charlotte, N.C., Mary (Kenneth) Kiewiet of Grundy Center, Joan (Vern) Rodie of Holland and Dorothy (Stacy) Babinat of Rogers, Minn.; three sons, Lawrence (Deb) and Paul (Barb), both of Reinbeck, and Tom (Jody) of Grundy Center; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Adolph Babinat; a sister, Mary Ann Bryan; and four sisters-in-law, Mary (Jim) Jones, Rose Babinat, Bernice Babinat and Audrey Babinat.

Preceded in death by a granddaughter; four brothers, Edward, Melvin, John and Siemon; two brothers-in-law, Carl Bryan and Arnold Barrer; and three sisters-in-law Thelma Babinat, Joan Babinat and Mary Margaret Barrer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Reinbeck, with burial in Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at French-Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, with an 8 p.m. Scripture service.
