CEDAR FALLS — Lola M. Lakin, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at the Western Home Communities Thalman Square.

She was born June 18, 1924, in Clarinda, daughter of Laurence and Irma Pugh Brown. She married Kenneth C. Lakin on Aug. 12, 1944, in Columbia, S.C. He died Jan. 4, 2007.

She received a master’s degree in education from the University of Northern Iowa and taught in the Dunkerton, Clarksville and Waterloo community school districts.

Survived by two sons, Charlie (Hannah) of Minneapolis and Dick (Janet) of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Gaio (Amy), Winona, Olaf, Nick (Jennifer), Ben (Kim) and Joe Lakin, and Derek Badel; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Sam and Trey Lakin; and a sister, Grace Lakin of Albuquerque, N.M.

Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roy and Ronald Brown; and a sister, Lauretta Cluts.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Ninth and Main streets, Cedar Falls, with private inurnment at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be for an hour before services Monday at the church. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
