WATERLOO – Leon Williams, 79, of Sioux City, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Touchtone Living Center, Sioux City.

He was born July 7, 1934, in Pike County, KY., son of Earnest and Dwale Young Williams. He married Mary Deskins and they later divorced.

Mr. Williams was employed with Waterloo Industries for many years until his retirement, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survived by two sons, James E. “Buddy” (Nedra) of Pikeville, Ky., and Terry (Nannie) of Louisville, Ky.; two daughters, Teresa Blackburn and Karen (Freddie) Varney, both of Pikeville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, James of Sioux City; and seven sisters, Ruth Webb of Waterloo, Rita Folk of Denver, Colo., Claudia Bevins of Ashland, Ky., Clara Halsey, Nell (Chris) Lowe and Patty Williams, all of Pikeville, and Wynnette (Ceceil) Stackhouse of Loveland, Colo.

Preceded in death by a son, Stevie; a granddaughter; and a brother, Ray “Bob.”

Graveside services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Garden of Memories Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1623 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Services on South Street is in charge of arrangements.
