WATERLOO — Marjorie R. Harbaugh, 92 of Ellensburg, Wash., formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Royal Vista Nursing and Rehab Center, Ellensburg.

She was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Waterloo, daughter of August L. and Martha M. Lenz Schmolt. She married John Wesley Harbaugh on Oct. 8, 1952, in Des Moines. He died Aug. 8, 1997.

Mrs. Harbaugh graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1938. She was an office manager at J.C. Penney Co. for 18 years before working for the Waterloo Community Schools as a secretary for more than 25 years at West Junior and Kittrell Elementary. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.

Survived by two sons, John P. (Terri) of Ellensburg and Thomas A. (Li-Ming) of Taiwan; five grandchildren, Ingrid (Phil) of North Pole, Alaska, Heidi, Thomas and Benjamin Harbaugh, all of Ellensburg, and John E. (Bethany) of Kelowna, British Columbia; three great-grandchildren, Gretchen and Elise Nelson, both of North Pole, and John M. Harbaugh of Kelowna; and a sister-in-law, Norma Schmolt of Omaha, Neb.

Preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Schmolt; a sister, Pauline Schmolt; and a half sister, Dorothy Miller.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Nazareth Lutheran Chapel, Cedar Falls, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Christian Crusaders.

Family was very important to her and she had a servant’s heart. Mother had a very caring and nurturing personality which was displayed in her daily walk. In 2008, she moved to Ellensburg to be closer to her family.
