WATERLOO - Ruth J. "Pat" Timmer, 82, of Waterloo, formerly of Evansdale, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center of a lung ailment.

She was born March 21, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Ernest P. and Amanda E. White Sampica.

Ms. Timmer attended school in Wisconsin. She was a nurse's aide whose passion was doing in-home patient care. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls.

Survived by two sons, Michael and Robert Leavell, both of Waterloo; two daughters, Carol Appleby and Penny (Allen) Knock, both of Waterloo; seven sisters, Bernice Paul of Wilton, Conn., Grace Taylor of Blue Eye, Mo., Mary Sampica of Boise, Idaho, Gloria (Tony) Juan of San Francisco, Joyce (Bob) McMurrin of Cedar Falls, Phyllis (John) Derifield of Waterloo and Marcia (Corky) Halverson of Evansdale; two brothers, Regis Sampica of Evansdale and David (Chris) Sampica of Spring Valley, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gerald and Bernard Sampica; and two sisters, Kathryn Rudolovich and Threasa Trusty.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2009 Crescent Drive, Cedar Falls, with burial in Poyner Cemetery, Raymond. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.

Pat enjoyed working crossword puzzles and crocheting afghans.
