CEDAR FALLS - Esther I. Kitner, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, following a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Webster City, daughter of Earl D. and Ida Anderson Hanson. She married Bert Gordon on July 20, 1940, in Webster City. He died in March 1979. She later married Edward Kitner in March 1986. He died in April 1998.

Mrs. Kitner worked at Star Laundry, Webster City, for seven years. She also owned and operated the Village Motel, Aplington, for five years.

Survivors include a niece whom she raised, Estee Pelton of Cedar Falls; a brother, Alfred (Kathryn) Hanson of Iowa Falls; a sister, Gladys (Harold) Waters of Des Moines; three half brothers, Eric (Pat) Hanson of Shell Rock, Paul (Joyce) White of Des Moines and Larry Clements of Bondurant; and two half sisters, Mary (Ray) Jenn of Waterloo and Diane Crosley of Sun Valley, Calif.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Gordon and Annie Hanson.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
