WATERLOO — Judith F. “Judi” Siler, 70, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

She was born Aug. 26, 1943, in Waterloo, daughter of Francis and Ardella Thaves Younker. She married Marvin P. Siler on March 20, 1965, in Waterloo.

Mrs. Siler graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1961, and from Pitze’s Beauty College. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, in psychology, and a master’s degree in library science. She was the school library media specialist for the Dunkerton Community Schools for 17 years, retiring in 2005. A member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, she and her husband were long-term mission work volunteers. They were former members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Waterloo.

Survived by her husband; three daughters, Kathi (Mike) Rackouski of Bayfield, Wis., Karen Siler of Tiffin and Charissa (Jeff) Lambert of Waverly; four grandchildren, Kylie Rackouski, Kristina, Paisley and Anthony Lambert; and a sister, Ruby (Bill) Cowell of Lansing.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, where visitation begins at noon, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Mausoleum. Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Judi was a member of the Metropolitan Chorale where she sang as an alto. She enjoyed crocheting, singing and reading.
