WATERLOO — Larry Gordon Spiegel, 67, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born Nov. 10, 1945, in Waterloo, son of Richard K. and Dolores Ann Gordon Spiegel. He married Marjorie Timion on May 4, 1968, in Waterloo, and they later divorced.

Mr. Spiegel graduated from Columbus High School in 1963, then from Milwaukee Cosmetology School and Young Cosmetology School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was employed in the billing service department at Control-O-Fax for over 30 years, until taking a medical disability.

Survived by two daughters, Christine Spiegel of Chicago and Jennifer (Daryl) Spiegel Zurawski of Lake St. Louis; three grandchildren, Alexia and Jonathan Spiegel, and Kayla Zurawski; three brothers, Richard (Bland) of Abilene, Texas, James (Diana) of Dayton, Ohio, and Tom (Linda) of Baltimore; and a sister, Jackie (Ron) Fischels of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 4 p.m. rosary by the Legion of Mary. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice or the AMVETS.
