Death Takes Mrs. Ed Jochumsen

Rites Tuesday for Ex-Mayor's Wife

Funeral services for Mrs. Ed Jochumsen, 67, of 817 Euclid Ave., will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Victor Winger, pastor, will officiate, assisted by Dr. Hermann Siefkes. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at the Locke Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jochumsen, wife of a former mayor of Waterloo, died of a stroke early Sunday morning at her home.

She was born Jan. 8, 1904, in Coulter, the daughter of John and Margaret Christiansen. She was married to Mr. Jochumsen at Coulter in 1927. She lived in Waterloo most of her married life.

Mrs. Jochumsen was a charter member and past president of the Waterloo Lionels, a member and past president of the International Order of the Kings Daughters and Sons, a member of the Mary Circle of Zion Lutheran Church and past president of the Whittier PTA. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Allen Memorial Hospital for many years. She was also active many years in the Black Hawk County Red Cross and was one of the organizers of the Red Cross Blood Bank. She was a charter member of Zion Lutheran Church and an active participant in church affairs.

Survivors include her husband, now retired; one son, Ed Jr. of Laramie, Wyo.; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Wright of Chicago; and two sisters, Mrs. Allyn Evans of Williamsburg, and Mrs. Richard Conner of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
