WATERLOO - Marguerite Marie Morin McKeown, 92, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born May 11, 1913, near Humphrey, Neb., daughter of Leon Morin and Ada Ruby Fulton. She married John Merle McKeown July 23, 1937, in Clinton, Ill. He preceded her in death.

She graduated from Clinton High School, then took training and became a registered nurse at Decatur Hospital. She served as a volunteer nurse for the Girl Scouts of America and Columbus High School. Known everywhere as the lady who knit well over 1,000 Christmas stockings, she was an honorary past regent of the Catholic Daughters, knit hats for babies in the hospital and was active in her church.

Survivors include a son, John David (Ellen) of Waterloo; three daughters, Catherine McManman of Benton, Ky., Harriet (Ray) Cull of Alburnette and Mary (Gary) Ackerman of Guttenberg; 10 grandchildren: Brian (Susan) Cull of Metamora, Ill., Nick (Laurie) Ackerman of Cedar Rapids, Mary Ann Cull of Iowa City, Lynn McManman of Union City, Tenn., Jean (Roger) Myers of Benton, John Raymond (Valerie) Cull of Cedar Rapids, Michael Ackerman of LaCrosse, Wis., Debbie McManman of Nashville, Tenn., Amanda (David) Kline of Waterloo and Ryan McManman of Benton; eight great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Riley Myers, Molly and Kevin Cull, Kaitlin, Matthew and Bradley Ackerman, and Andrew Kline; a brother, Joe (Libby) Morin of Florida; a sister, Leontine (Harvin) Cook of Springfield, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and four brothers, Paul, Phil, Eugene and Clifford Morin.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 5 p.m. CDA rosary, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Queen of Peace Parish or Cedar Valley Hospice.
