CEDAR FALLS - Marcellite A. "Marcie" Slickers, 93, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, of complications from a fall.

She was born Feb. 18, 1916, in Waterloo, daughter of Charles J. and Anna Holzer Beckman. She married Arthur A. Slickers Nov. 20, 1943, in Denver, Colo. He died April 4, 1990.

Mrs. Slickers was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and Gates Business School. She was a receptionist for Drs. Entz, Kruse & Stevenson, retiring in 1978.

Survived by two sons, Kenneth (JoAnn) of Carmel, Ind., and Terry (Joan) of Waterloo; a daughter, Sister Vikki Slickers S.S.F.C. of Waukee; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Lynwood) Shannon of Portland, Ore., Scot (Angela) Slickers of Cedar Falls, Amy Jo (Nick) McGovern of Waterloo, and Kari Lynn (Michael) Yates of Waterloo; six great- grandchildren, Alayna May Yates, Olivia Grace Slickers, Alexandra Johannsen, Fletcher S.A.Y. Yates, Brett Arthur McGovern and Aidan Kenneth Shannon; and two great-grandsons on the way.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Hoover and Williamette Miller.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or family.

Marcie loved her family and friends, and the "Lunch Bunch." She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, watching sports on TV, especially ice skating, basketball and baseball. She also loved attending the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony and musicals.
