William J. Peters, 93, of 3862 Hammond Ave., died Thursday, Dec. 27, 1990, at Parkview Gardens Care Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born April 30, 1897, in Benton County, son of Henry and Rosa Kick Peters. He married Viola Marie Kersten Dec. 25, 1919, near Garrison. She died Dec. 1, 1980. He farmed for many years in Black Hawk County.

Survivors include a daughter, Lois Petersen of Dysart; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Lulu Hark and Rose Mask, both of Dysart, and Amanda Pierce and Esther Bolender, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a son, John; a daughter, Pauline Loonan; a grandson; three brothers and two sisters.

Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
