Donna Mae Driscoll Condon
August 15, 1928 - July 10, 2008

"My candle burns at both ends. It will not last the night. But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends, it gives a lovely light." (Edna St. Vincent Millay)

Donna was born on the family farm near Washburn, Iowa, number four in a family of ten children.

She was preceded in death by parents, Vincent and Molly Driscoll; sister, Mary Arlene Steimel; and brother, Vincent (Bud) Driscoll; also preceded in death by her husband, James M. Condon, in 1963.

Donna is survived by two daughters, Judith Condon and Mary Condon Peters (Dan), both of Minneapolis; three grandchildren, Patrick Hennessey (Carrie) of California and Sarah and Daniel Peters of Minneapolis; and two great-grandchildren, Ella and Aidan Hennessey of California.

She is survived by sisters, Sharon Kohl, Gert Hogan, Lynne Fox, Miriam Steimel and Gloria Girsch; and brothers, Dwayne Driscoll and Michael Driscoll; a large extended family and a circle of great friends.

Widowed at just 34 years of age, Donna was faced with raising two children on her own. Necessity challenged her to forge new paths for women in the workplace, to be fiercely independent and to live out the rest of her life with courage, joy and challenge. She spoke her mind as she saw fit without fear of reprisal. She was a friend and support to many and was uniquely herself as no one else quite is.

Public visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Her funeral will be held at St. Edward Church on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m., with inurnment following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Donna's body has been cremated. Memorials may be given to the family for distribution to charities of her interest.
