Services for Earnest L. Joens, 57, of 3411 W. Ridgeway Ave., will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Joens died Friday morning (June 24, 1988) at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, of a heart attack.
He was born Feb. 23, 1931, in Tama County, son of Peter and Ruby Spence Joens. He married Lorraine Andorf Nov. 17, 1950, in rural Hudson. He farmed in rural Waterloo and Cedar Falls for many years.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Olander of Forrest Lake, Minn., Mrs. Sandy Graham of Waterloo and Mrs. Julie Ladage of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a brother, Melvin of Dunkerton; three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Andorf of Dike, Mrs. Darlene Hageman of Hudson and Mrs. Beverly Wolff of Waterloo; and his father, Peter Joens of Waterloo;
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Cecil.
Friends may call at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, from 1 to 9 p.m. today and for an hour before services at the church Monday.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson.
