WATERLOO - Claude Monroe Stone, 83, of Waterloo, died Friday April 2, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

He was born July 5, 1920, in rural Clayton County, son of Stanley and Marvel Jencks Stone. He married Jean Condon Nov. 16, 1940, in Greeley

Mr. Stone was the branch manager of the Dunkerton Peoples Bank and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II

Survived by his wife; three sons, Terry (Joan) of Decorah, Robert (Kathy) of Ankeny and Don (Brenda) of Gilbertville; three daughters, Barbara (Virgil) Nelson of Dakota City and Pam (Andrew) Thomas and Dianne (Daniel) Rubendall, both of Waterloo; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother Merle (Elva Jean) of Toddville; and two sisters, Donna (Charles) Green of Lamont and Cheryl Steege of Stanley

Preceded in death by a son, Ronald; a brother, Dean, and a sister, Mardelle Thompson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Chapel, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff- Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the chapel.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
