LA PORTE CITY — Leo T. Meany, 87, formerly of 600 Chestnut St, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2000, at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center of cancer.
He was born Dec. 14, 1913, near Jesup, son of James and Frances Considine Meany. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II He retired from John Deere Tractor Works, Waterloo, after 28 years.
Survived by a sister-in-law, Bonnie Meany of Fairbank.
Preceded in death by two brothers; and an infant sister.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Porte City, with burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Huisman Funeral Home, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 4:30 p.m. military service conducted by La Porte City American Legion San Diego Post 207 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Normandy Post 3983.
