CEDAR FALLS- Gerald L. "Jerry" Piper, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born September 20, 1928 in Cedar Falls, the son of Faye and Lilly M. Ackerman Piper. He married Marilyn J. "Mary" Smith on April 16, 1950 in Nashua.

Mr. Piper was a 1947 graduate of Cedar Falls High School and was employed with Waterloo Industries for forty-three years, retiring as an assembly lead man in 1990.

Survivors include his wife, of Cedar Falls; a son, Michael (Pricila) of Des Moines; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his mother, Lilly M. Piper of the Western Home; and a brother, Robert V. (Zella) Piper of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by children, Debra, Marc and Jeffrey; his father, Faye Piper; and sister, Louise Piper.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prairie Lakes Church with burial in Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home (266-3525). Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Prairie Lakes Church, Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center, or Amenity Hospice.
