John Richard Hills, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, January 15, 2006, at Florida Hospital in Kissimmee, Florida.

Dick was born May 13, 1925, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Harry B. and Carrie (Knudsen) Hills. He graduated from Shell Rock High School and the University of Northern Iowa (1963). He also completed graduate work at the University of Minnesota.

On November 09, 1951, He was united in marriage to Ruth E. Krumme in Dunkerton. She died May 30, 1989. He taught in area country schools and then at North Cedar, Shell Rock, and Waterloo, and most recently was at Cedar Falls High School working through AEA 7, retiring in 1987. He was a 50 year member of First Baptist Church in Cedar Falls, member of the Cedar Falls Kiwanis, and a former member of the Y Men's Club.

Dick is survived by four sons, Norval "Skip" (Sue) Hills of Apple Valley, MN, Dan (Marlene) Hills and Alan (Cherri) Hills, both of Cedar Falls and Dave (Sue) Hills of Elkhart, IN; two daughters, Linda (Pat) Wright of Lancaster, CA and Bonnie (Mark) McCampbell of Lynnwood, WA; seventeen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and three sisters, Marjorie Gram of Sacramento, CA, Helen Petersen of Cedar Falls, and Jean (Harlan) Stenberg of Clear Lake, IA.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; a brother in infancy; and sisters, Charlotte Olmstead and Evelyn Parker.
