A 14-year-old youth identified as Dennis R. Skalsky of 410 Riverside Dr. drowned yesterday afternoon in the Cedar River after he fell into the water from a tree on which he and a companion were playing.

His body was recovered about 150 feet downstream by firemen who used drag hooks and the department boat to locate his body.

According to firemen, young Skalsky, son of Mrs. Joyce Skalsky of 410 Riverside Dr., was with Doug Hammond, also 14, of 527 Reber Ave. The two were playing on a fallen tree that overhangs the water at the upper end of Sans Souci Island.
