MATTISON, DOUTHITT, ANDERSON

George D. Mattison was born August 8, 1921, in Ponca, Nebraska, the son of Harry J. and Gladys (Douthitt) Mattison. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University and served his Country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. On January 2, 1949, he was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Anderson in Waterloo. She died December 3, 2000.

He was a Project Engineer at the John Deere Product Engineering Center for 37 years, retiring August 31, 1983. He served as a Scout Master for the Cub Scouts, Webelos, Boy Scouts, and Sea Scouts and was past Board Member of the Cedar Falls Kiwanis.

Survived by four sons, Craig J. (Noel) Mattison of Golden, CO, Kent D. (Laura) Mattison of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kurt R. (Denise) Mattison of Eau Claire, WI, and Todd F. (Ann Marie) Mattison of Ithaca, New York; grandchildren, Erin (Ryan) Gunderson, Peter Mattison, Maria Mattison, Tyler Mattison, Claire Mattison, and Sarah Mattison; and brother, Dale (Lois) Mattison of Brookings, Oregon.

George died Sunday, January 29, 2006, at the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and three brothers, Fay, Ross, and Max Mattison.
