Harold W. Brown was born July 1, 1924, in Wessington, South Dakota, the son of Clark S. and Hazel F. (Young) Brown. He served his Country in the United States Army during World War II.

On August 21, 1949, he was united in marriage to Grace H. Dahlin in Bonilla, SD. They were later divorced. He then married Dorothy J. Brown June 21, 1988 in Wessington, SD.

He received his Bachelor of Science from South Dakota Mines & Technology in 1951. He was employed at John Deere in Dubuque from 1951-52 and them the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works from 1952 until his retirement in 1984, as manager of Durability Testing. He served as Past Worship Master of Black Hawk Lodge #65 A.F. & A.M., Past Worthy Patron of Cedar Falls Chapter #78 O.E.S., Past President of the Cedar Falls High Twelve, Cedar Falls York Rite, Supervisors Club, El Mecca Shrine, American Legion, Mended Hearts, and First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls.

Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Cedar Falls; daughters, Cynthia Flores and Denise Brown, both of Waterloo; son, Steven Brown of Cedar Falls; step-daughters, Connie Bates of Fargo, ND and Nola (Jerry) Roitsch of Bristol, SD; step son, Lynn Brown of Wessington, SD; grandchildren, David Haddock and Jamie (Joe) Rocha; step grandchildren, Major Kruse, Chris (Amy) Bates, Kelly (Tony) Felany, Jody (Andy) Conley, Corrie (Matt) Vihstadt, Kimberly Roitsch; great-grandson, Anthony Rocha; and step-great-grandchildren, Connor Bates and Chelsea Kruse.

Harold died Saturday, December 31, 2005, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; brother, Edward Brown; and sister, Mildred Fisk.
