WATERLOO — Helen Lucille Patrick, 82, of Elkader, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, July 20, 2013, at Central Community Hospital, Elkader.

She was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Waterloo, son of Edmund and Bena Fecht Lauer. She married Earl Patrick on July 25, 1948, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, West Union. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Patrick and her husband owned and operated Patrick’s Tavern and Café. She also worked 15 years for Rise Inc., Elkader, and was a member of Peace United Church of Christ.

Survived by two sons, Edmund (Melissa) and Harlan (Joyce), both of Elkader; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Edwards Patrick of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her stepfather, Hank Asmus; a son, Gary Earl; and two brothers, Edmund Jr. and Donald Lauer.

Celebration of Life service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, preceded by a wake from 9 to 11 a.m. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.
