Raymond Lester "Ray" James, age 54, of Cedar Falls, died on July 20th, 2013 at his home after a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 23, 1958, in Waterloo, son of Lester and Dorothy James. On June 28, 1980, he married Dawn Nieman at United Methodist Church, New Hartford.

Mr. James graduated from Waterloo Central High School in 1975, then served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in 1988 with an associate’s degree in accounting. He then went to work for Viking Pump Co., Cedar Falls, where he worked for 25 years. He was a member of Evansdale AMVETS Post 51, Glass, Molders, and Pottery Union Local 459, ABATE of Iowa, and was involved with Toys for Tots and the Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; a daughter, April Balk of New Hartford; a son, Joshua (April) of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Austen, Adreana, Alec and Alexis; four sisters, Leslie Rindels and Shirley Jo Elliott, both of Waterloo, Rosemary (Fred) Wilson of Beloit, Ohio, and Christine (Alen) Davidson of Plainfield; and two brothers, Bill (Linda) Elliott of Waterloo and Steven (Cheryl) Elliott of Henning, Minn.

Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patty Huntley; and two brothers, Bud and Eugene Elliott.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, followed by cremation. Visitation Friday at the funeral home, with family present from 4 to 7 p.m.
