Genevieve R. "Jane" Betts, 95, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, May 8. 2007, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born December 3, 1911, in Greene, daughter of Mathias and Mathilda Frein Wagner. She married William W. Betts on October 7, 1942 in Lancaster, Missouri. He died January 12, 1991. Mrs. Betts owned and operated a Popcorn Stand in LaPorte City and was employed with Smittys Grocery Store in Waterloo. She was best known for her cake decorating and cookies.
Survivors include two brothers, Arnold (Dorothy) Wagner of Parkersburg and Richard Wagner of LaPorte City; two sisters, Frances (Harold) Heffner of Parkersburg, and Marie Hilmer of LaPorte City; two sisters-in-law, Doris Wagner and Darlene Wagner, both of LaPorte City and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Robert, and two sisters Adeline and Dorothy.
Services will be 10:30 Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church LaPorte City with burial in Westview Cemetery LaPorte City. Public visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and at the church for an hour before services on Monday.
Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice.
