CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - David Lee Kurtz, 60, formerly of Janesville, Iowa, died Saturday, August 26, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo of complications of cancer.

He was born December 20, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Henry "Heine" Michael and Madeline Frances Chevalier Kurtz. He married Christy Stufflebeam in 1966 in Waverly. They later divorced. He married Sue Eastburn Husome on October 5, 1990 in Las Vegas.

Mr. Kurtz worked with his father at the Riviera Ballroom, Janesville and later managed Riviera Lanes, then purchased the family business. He also operated Cadillac Lanes and the Silver Fox, both in Waterloo, and the Gayla Ballroom in Independence.

David is survived by his wife; two sons, Heine Michael and Jason David, both of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Lynn Ann Kurtz of Denver; two stepdaughters, Joyce Rollins of Grundy Center and Cindy Schmidt of Cedar Falls; six step-grandchildren,; three brothers, Richard of Austin, Texas, Paul of Denver and Arnie of Cedar Falls; and a sister, Janice Wilson of Waverly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Woore; and three brothers, Harold in infancy, James and Delbert.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Waterloo, with private family inurnment in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with family present from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. There will be a 7 p.m. vigil service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
