WATERLOO — Shanda Fawn Werkmeister, 35, of Waterloo, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 6, 2013 in Waterloo.

She was born Aug. 9, 1977, in Marquette, Mich., daughter of Ron and Mary Kangas. She married Brandon Werkmeister on Aug. 29, 2010, in Clarksville.

Mrs. Werkmeister attended Independence schools and graduated from Gwinn High School, Gwinn, Mich., in 1995. She attended Hawkeye Community College in 2004, earning an associate degree in CNC machining.

Survived by her husband; a daughter, Adaya Ruroden of Waterloo; her mother of Waterloo; her father of Gwinn; and a sister, Emily Tessmer of Truckee, Calif.

Celebration of Life memorial service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, where visitation with the family and fellowship begins at 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be directed to Mary Kangas, in care of Westminister Presbyterian Church, 1301 Kimball Ave., Waterloo 50702.

Shanda showed her heart in music. She had a beautiful singing voice, which she shared with her daughter Adaya. She also was passionate about fishing. She took pride in her trade as a skilled CNC machinist. Shanda is now safely in the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, who she came to know in recent years.
