Mary Paup was born January 10, 1912, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary Naomi (Murray) Galloway. On January 28, 1934, she was united in marriage to Dean Paup in Chicago, IL. They were later divorced.
She graduated from Waterloo West High School and State Teachers College (UNI) in Cedar Falls. She taught art and upper elementary at Edison in Waterloo and later in Davenport before retiring. She then substituted in the Cedar Falls school district following retirement. She had been active in the Women's Club, AAUW, Waterloo Historical Society and the Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two sons, Dean (Wilma) Paup of Plano, TX and William (Sara) Paup of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and sisters, Francis Cook of California and Genevieve (Kenneth) England of Texas.
Mary died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at the Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ross, Dwight, David and Hugh Galloway and infant sister, Esther Galloway.
