Betty Lou Wook was born October 25, 1935, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest DeWitt and Dorothy Mae (Ocker) Schanbeck. She graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in Delhi. On January 9, 1954, she was united in marriage to Louis Glennon Woock in Cedar Falls. She was a seamstress at Palace Clothiers for 25 years, retiring in 2000.

She is survived by her husband, Louis of Cedar Falls, son, Dennis G. (Denise) Woock of Cedar Falls; daughter, Lori A. (Dale Kluth) Handberg; step daughters, Judy Partridge of Enfield, CT and Cherry (Al) Payne of Charlottesville, VA; step son, Gary (Carolyn) Woock of Hawthorne, FL; five grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; fifteen step great grandchildren; two brothers, Eldon E. (Sharon K.) Schanbeck of Delaware and Patrick G. (Berniece) Schanbeck of Winthrop; and honorary daughter, Michelle Hamilton of Cedar Falls.

Betty died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Eugene Schanbeck; and great granddaughter, Emily Hunt.
