MCGLAUGHLIN, FRANCIS, BEAL, AGNEW

Mrs. Lucy F. McGlaughlin, 69, who resided with her brother-inlaw and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Beal, 27 Logan Avenue, died at 4 p. m. Friday in the Hammond Nursing home, Des Moines, where she had been a patient for a month.

In failing health for the past several years, death followed a lingering illness of Parkinson disease, creeping paralysis. Mr. and Mrs. Beal were with her at the time of death.

Born as Lucy F. Francis on Sept. 9, 1874, in Kirkwood, Ill., the daughter of Henry and Adda Francis, she moved with her parents to Mapleton, Minn., as a young girl and later returned to Kirkwood where she was graduated from high school.

She later was graduated from Iowa State Teachers College and Columbia University, New York
City and taught science and mathematics in several Iowa high schools for many years, later serving as principal. She was married to Charles McGlaughlin in 1928 at Nashua, la., and had resided in Jesup until 1939 when she came to Waterloo to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Beal.

Mrs. McGlaughlin was a member of the Methodist church, Jesup.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Beal, 208 Logan avenue, and Miss May Francis of Washington, D. C., and two brothers, Lewis V. T Francis, 219 Logan, and Ralph Francis, Fairbank, la.

The husband, her parents and two sisters, Miss Nellie Francis, and Mrs. Laura Agnew preceded her in death. The body is at the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy F. McGlaughlin will be at 3 p. m. Tuesday in the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home with Rev. H. F. Mercer, pastor of the Methodist church at Greene. la., in charge. Burial will be in Littleton, la.

Mrs. McGlaughlin, who resided with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Beal. 207 Logan avenue, died Friday in the Hammond Nursing home. Des Moincs, where she had been
a patient for a month.
