WILLIAM J. YORDY.

Word has been received here of the death of William J. Yordy, 73, retired Illinois Central railroad engineer and former resident of Waterloo, which occurred Saturday evening at his home in Glendale, Cal.

Mr. Yordy, born Jan. 20, 1870, lived in Waterloo for more than 40 years. While a resident here, the family home was at 1935 Lafayette Street.

A passenger engineer with the Illinois Central, operating between Waterloo and Freeport, Ill., he retired on Sept. 1, 1939, after 48 years of continuous service and had since resided in California.

Mr. Yordy was a member of First Evangelical Church in Waterloo and formerly served on the board of stewards.

Surviving, besides the widow is a son, Earl, Freeport, Ill.
