Thomas Eugene Rodden of Ankeny passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Mercy Hospice, Johnston.

Tom was born June 14, 1942, in Fond du Lac, Wis., to Thomas M. and Adelaide A. (Schumacher) Rodden. He graduated from St. Mary’s Springs High School in Fond du Lac in 1960. He went to Loras College in Dubuque, and graduated cum laude in 1964 majoring in accounting and economics.

Tom married Diane Louene Vestal on Oct. 31, 1964, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo. To this union came three wonderful children: Lisa (Michael) Meyer of Omaha, Neb., Kelly (Richard) Rondeau of Ankeny and Michael (Laura) Rodden of Round Lake, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Travis Rondeau, Kendra Rondeau, Nathan Rondeau, Reilly Meyer, Kirsten Meyer, Brooke Rodden and Kate Rodden.

Tom’s employment history included several accounting and managerial positions in Chicago, Waterloo, and the Des Moines and West Des Moines areas ultimately retiring as a principal with Strategic American in West Des Moines.

Tom was a life long avid Green Bay Packer fan and shareholder.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edward Rodden of Juneau, Wis.; three sisters, Janet Munson and Mary Sheridan, both of Fond du Lac, and Meg Kalmerton of Oshkosh, Wis.

There are two surviving sisters, Joan Lemke and Patricia Pothas of Fond du Lac.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 8, at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, Ankeny. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Burial will be in Ankeny Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospice House in Johnston, Iowa or Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church. Tom’s family would like to thank Dr. Hiatt and his nurse Bridgett for their care and compassion.

Services are entrusted to Ankeny Funeral Home.
