Mary M. Lanigan, 90, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Allen Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 31, 1918, in Waukon, daughter of Thomas and Mary Zieman Walsh. She married Clarence A. Lanigan June 25, 1938 in St. Paul, MN. He died February 1, 1981.

Mary was a nurse's aide at Schoitz Hospital for 13 years, Allen Hospital, in the surgery dept., for four years and was the house mother at Allen School of Nursing until her retirement.

Survivors include two sons, Clarence (Peggy) Lanigan of Waterloo, Thomas (Kami) Lanigan of Denver and two daughters, Barbara Lehman and Laurene (Reed) Ericson, all of Waterloo and a daughter-in-law, Priscella Lanigan of Gilbert, Arizona; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Lanigan, a grandson and two son-in-laws.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hagarty – Waychoff – Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and a 7:00 p.m. Vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church on Monday.

Memorials may be directed to Beacon of Hope Hospice or Diabetes Association.
