Marlene Joan Luloff Maltas, 56, of Long Beach, Calif., formerly of Waterloo, died of complications of diabetes Dec. 27, 1988 at her home. There were no services.

She was born April 30, 1931, in Oelwein, daughter of Ralph and Erma Kohtz Luloff. She married LaVerne Maltas on Aug. 31, 1956, in Alhambra, Calif.

She graduated from East High School and Gates Business College, Waterloo. She worked in the purchasing department at John Deere for about six years.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Greg of Lemon Grove, Calif.; and a granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
