EVANSDALE — Services for Truman W. Johnson, 71, of 31615th Ave., Gilbertville, formerly of 623 Grand Blvd., are pending at Kearns-Dykeman Chapel. Mr. Johnson died Saturday afternoon at Grundy Center Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 23, 1912, in Winneshiek County, son of John A. and Martha Helgeson Johnson. He married Alice V. Peterson on Feb. 26, 1939, in Harmony, Minn.

Mr. Johnson was employed at Rath Packing Co. for 28 years, in the beef department, retiring in 1975. An Evansdale city councilman from 1960 to 1962, he was a charter member and pastpresident of the Evansdale Kiwanis Club.

Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Richard Frett of Gilbertville, Mrs. Karen Walker of 1012 Central Ave., Evansdale, and Mrs. Stanley Card of 410 Me Coy Road, Elk Run Heights; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Anderson of Cedar Rapids; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
