William R. Carrothers, 61, of 923 West Mullan avenue, died of carditis at his home at 3:45 a. m. Sunday.

Born Dec. 25, 1883, in Buchanan County, la., the son of William and Margaret Carrothers, he married Blanche Raus Jan. 8, 1907, in Inglewood, la. They came here from Masonville, la. 16 years ago. He was employed here by the John Deere Tractor Co.

Surviving, besides his wife, are five daughters, Mrs. Hazel Marshall, the Misses Madonna, Laurel and Ruth Carrothers, all at home, and Mrs. Garnet Wagnor, a missionary in Nigeria. Africa; four brothers, Leslie, Pine Plains, N. Y.; Anthony, San Mateo, Cal.; Robert, Tacoma, Wash., and Victor, Cedar Rapids la.; two sisters Mrs. Edna Robinson, Manchester, la., and Mrs. Mae Emerson, Masonville, la., and one grandchild

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday at Kearns Garden Chapel with Dr. Gilbert S. Cox, pastor of First Methodist church, officiating. Following services here, the body will be taken to the home of Mrs. Emerson at Masonville, la., where family services will be conducted at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday, and public services at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Silver Creek Methodist Church. Burial will be in Silver Creek Methodist Cemetery.
