MACCANON, GENSMAN, CURTIS, HERRICK, TEPASKE

CEDAR FALLS—Services for Rev: G. Eldon MacCanon, 81, of Wharton, Texas, and formerly of Cedar Falls, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Garwin with burial in the Garwin Cemetery. He died Friday in Wharton.

He was born in Spencer March 5, 1898, son of Charles and Minnie Gensman MacCanon. He married Edna Curtis Nov. 29, 1917, and she died in 1965. He married Hessie McElroy Dec. 2, 1971.

Rev. MacCanon was a longtime Iowa church leader, serving churches in Iowa for 50 years before retiring: He served 15 years as superintendent of the Iowa United Methodist Conference and was pastor of churches in Albia, Ames, Bristow, Garwin, Granger, Waverly and Webster City. He moved to Texas after retirement in 1971.

Surviving are his wife; four sons, Rev. Robert R. MacCanon of Fort Dodge, Curtis MacCanon of Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Donald MacCanon of Rockville, Md., and Rev. F. Richard MacCanon of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Rosemary Herrick of Des Moines, and Delight TePaske of 411 N. Francis St.; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Nottger-Erickson Funeral Home from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
