WATERLOO — JoAnn Marie Chapman, 73, of Waterloo, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Rochester Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

She was born Aug. 27, 1939, daughter of Oscar C. and Gladys Marie Meyne Hurd. She married Jerry Lee Chapman on June 6, 1964, in Davenport. They were later divorced.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Macalester College, St. Paul, Minn. and a master’s degree in public health from the University of Minnesota, and was awarded a fellowship at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She was employed as vice president of nursing and patient care services at St. Francis, then Covenant Medical Center until 1989 and later was executive director of the Visiting Nurses Association.

Survived by two sons, Todd (Cindy) of Zackery, La., and Scott of Deerfield, Ill.; three grandchildren, Taylor (Ken) McClelland, and Christian and Connor Chapman, all of Zackery; a great-grandchild, Keigan McLelland of Zackery; a sister, Judy (Virgil) Kuhlmann of Readlyn; and a brother, Jim (Judy) Hurd of Waterloo.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Visiting Nurses Association.
