DUNKERTON — Mary Ellen Van Natta, 92, of Dunkerton, died Monday, June 17, 2013 at Mercy Living Plus, Oelwein.

She was born Jan. 8, 1921, in rural Dunkerton, daughter of Carlton George and Ethel Simmerson Atkins. She married Robert “Bob” Van Natta on Aug. 25, 1945, in Barclay Township, southeast of Dunkerton. He died Dec. 27, 1982.

Survived by a son, Wayne (Judy) of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Toni Van Natta of Denver; a sister, June Groth of Denver; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son, Jerry.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Readlyn, preceded by two hours of visitation, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Independence.
