LA PORTE CITY-Services for Mrs. Diane K. Runyan, 34, of La Porte City, will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial in West View Cemetery.

Mrs. Runyan was killed Thursday afternoon in a gas explosion at a farm west of Hudson. The explosion occurred when a construction crew installing drainage tile punctured the pipeline.

She was born Oct. 11, 1948, at La Porte City, daughter of Donald E. and Phyllis C. Davis Foster. She married Dennis N. Runyan March 9, 1968, at La Porte City.

She was a 1981 graduate of Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo. She had been employed for the past two years as a soil conservation technician at the Black Hawk County Soil Conservation Service in Waterloo.

Survivors include her husband; her parents of 104 Pleasant Drive; two sons, Mark and Eric, both at home; a brother, Claire Foster of 108 Valley Drive; a sister, Mrs. Barbara A. Wittmayer of 1218 W. 19th St., Cedar Falls; and paternal grandmother Helen Foster and maternal grandmother Marion Davis, both of La Porte City.

Huisman-Dykeman Chapel is in charge of arrangements. There will be no public visitation.

A memorial fund has been established.
