WATERLOO — Phyllis E. Manley, 68, of Waterloo, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Allen Hospital.

She was born May 28, 1945, in Waterloo, daughter of Wilbur and Wilma Dippel Fulks. She married Paul Manley on May 19, 1979, at Sacred Heart Church, Waterloo.

She graduated from Waterloo East High School and completed LPN training at Hawkeye Technical College. She was employed as the lawn and garden manager and worked in the electronics department at the Waterloo Walmart store for many years. She had formerly worked as a nurse and an operating room technician at St. Francis Hospital and also at Petersen and Tietz Greenhouse.

Survived by: her husband; two sons, Morgan Manley of Des Moines and Patrick Gutknecht of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Callie (Jeff) Henrichs of Story City; three grandchildren, Mari, Gabi and Caden; and two sisters, Patricia (Dave) Fencl of Independence and Pam (Jim) Oler of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: her parents; and a sister, Peggy Hanson.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to Unity Point Hospice, 1825 Logan Ave., Waterloo 50703.

Phyllis liked spending time with her family and traveling, especially to the Colorado Rockies. She also enjoyed gardening, plants and celebrating birthdays and holidays with her family.
