Donald Paul Sharp, 86, of Phoenix, AZ formerly of Waterloo, died Friday April 20, 2007, at West Valley Hospital Goodyear, AZ of natural causes.

He was born May 2, 1920 in Waterloo, the son of William and Matilda Schuster Sharp. He married Beatrice M. Oemick on Jan. 19, 1948 in Waterloo. They were married for 51 years. Beatrice died Nov. 4 1999.

Mr. Sharp was employed as a professional truck driver for Standard Distributing. He was a veteran of the Pacific Theater in WWII serving in the Army as a Staff Sgt.

Survived by four sons: Tom (Mary) of Gilbertville, Bob (Vivian) of Atlanta, GA, Bill (Maureen) of Ankeny, Gary (Lisa) of Burlington, WI.; a daughter Cindy (Chris) Jensen of Phoenix, AZ; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Sharp and a son Jim Sharp.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday May 1 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial in Calvary cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS post 31. Public visitation from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South St. where there will be a 6 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
